Starting over.
It does you good to take a break, stop, breathe and just reflect for a while. Catch up with yourself.
In 2019 our then house move was falling through, I was closing the door on our little shop and then covid hit scuppering all plans entirely. The same for everyone else.
it wasn’t all bad actually. I quietly stepped away from A Bunch Of Wild and made my pottery and art my sanctuary and saviour.
But just before that, when I was still in the throes of flower growing and teaching, I was manifesting something! Dreaming every day, saying to my husband and anyone who would listen- ‘if only I could find enough land with a tiny cottage and a little barn from where I could host my pop-up shop, teach from. If only I could find something like that. Oh and it not cost the earth… that would be the dream’. And I wished so flipping hard that last year it actually happened!
We had sold our house and was struggling to find anything. About to give up, when this deceiving little cottage came up in a village not far away from where we already lived. We met the owners and luckily for us they wanted us to have it 😁 Tiny cottage- ✔️ Big garden- ✔️ Barn- ✔️ and so much more. I’d literally been wishing for somewhere like this ever since I’d started A Bunch Of Wild.
This time around I’m in no hurry and have no grand plans other than create a garden. It must have specific cutting beds for things like dahlias and annuals, but also large drifts of perennial planting as I learned in my early days it’s so much easier having perennials that come back every year and can be divided up to make new plants. In the long term it’s way more cost effective too!
There will be a decent sized section for meadow planting. Neither myself or husband have grown a meadow before so this should be interesting. And there is a tiny woodland area right at the bottom of the garden.
There are many places that would be perfect to style for photo shoots and one idea is to open the garden for people to use as such, however nothing is set in stone yet.
So I’m inviting you along this year as I start over with A Bunch Of Wild from scratch. To join me once again in creating a garden and styling flowers. I’ll be sharing my favourite seeds to sow and how best to successfully grow flowers from seed. Which perennials make excellent cut flowers, how to combine a cutting garden into a garden scheme to maximise space and keep it looking natural. Plus I’ll be sharing my love of vintage gardenalia and creating beautiful spaces to sit and daydream or gather friends for drinks and picnics.
