Hello my flower loving friends, how are you?
A different post today that’s got nothing to do with gardening, instead it’s a date for your diary- I’m having a solo exhibition of my ceramics and paintings from the 3rd to the 7th of October at The Aldeburgh Gallery in Aldeburgh, Suffolk. I wanted to give you plenty of notice to book a few days away, it’s a nice excuse to have a late break and the beginning of October is always such a lovely time in my opinion, especially in Suffolk when the golden light is low and the countryside mellow, beautiful.
The Aldeburgh Gallery is situated on the main high street and is a wonderful cosy space, I didn’t want anywhere too pristine and crisp, and this gallery is old and quirky. I’ll be taking my paintings inspired by the seasons, they will be divided into each season as you walk around. I’ll also be taking my botanical ceramics and my smaller functional pieces like mugs and bowls. As it’s October I thought I’d do some dried flower installations too. In my head it’s beautiful and quite different from a normal art exhibition space, let’s hope I can make it a reality!
My work is influenced by my country walks and garden flowers. Ideas flow in when I’m pottering in the cutting garden or when I see a gorgeous sunset when driving home. Most things I create are intuitive, as I enter the studio there often isn’t any clear aim except to get my hands dirty and try not to get my tea and my painting water mixed up (it happens). I’ll be sharing this post on my artists newsletter but thought because of the subject matter you might appreciate being in the know. If you’d like to see more of my art and ceramics I do have a separate Instagram account which I will pop a link to at the bottom.
I’m aiming to get in my greenhouse this week to sow seeds and I’m teaching Lilly how to do a vintage style urn arrangement so my next post will be back to flowers/gardens and my usual ramblings on.
Have a good weekend.
Emma x
Sadly I'm not in your area, but would definitely be paying a visit if I was! Meanwhile I've restacked it on my feed for you. I hope it goes beautifully 💚
Gosh, fantastic, Emma!
