Hello my flower loving friends,
I’ve been really enjoying the garden since the sun decided to come out. We started work lifting the turf for where the new greenhouse and seating area is going to be. That’s a faff I can tell you! The turf cutter we ordered broke down and they couldn’t get another one out to us, because we’re on a bit of a time scale we’ve all taken it in turns to do it by hand. I just have to keep telling myself how wonderful it will be when it’s done!
The plan is to have raised beds coming off from the seating area so you’ll be surrounded by the cutting garden. I hope this will also be a lovely place to do workshops from.
We got Bella a new shelter for whenever there’s cases of flockdown, she needs a proper roof just in case bird flue strikes again. She’s just getting used to her new space then she’ll be free to roam around the garden again. It’s just her now. We’ve had chickens for years, I was ready to say no more but mr c has other plans. They are wonderfully therapeutic creatures to observe.
Right now I’m excited about all the fruit that is coming! The pears look like they have set and the apple trees are looking good too so I’m hopeful for a bumper crop! Less enamoured am I by the beautiful deer that has chomped it’s way through the woodland garden and eaten all my cow parsley, can’t win them all.
I’m at The Dorset Brocante this weekend exhibiting my art and pottery so the garden will have to just wait. If you’re local it would be lovely to see you. It’s at the Larmer Tree near Shaftesbury, Sun/Mon.
Lastly I spent some time today cleaning the vintage shed so it’s ready for sitting in with a coffee when I’m on my break.
