Gorgeous pansies and cherry trees out the sale bin
Thursday morning top finds at the garden centre.
I bloody love pansies! I had the best morning ever today. I was supposed to be clearing out my studio but I just couldn’t face it and for some reason I found myself driving towards our local plant nursery, it was like something was calling, I’m being deadly serious. After casually abandoning my clapped out mini (she didn’t have any oil in the other day and it took her sounding like a tractor for me to notice) I found myself standing amongst the trees marvelling at the cherries with the owner. There were two weeping proper Pom-Pom pink blossom cherry trees that caught my eye, they didn’t have a price on and I walked away thinking they’d look really nice but maybe not today. Walking down the plant aisles I picked up a Madame Alfred Carrier rose in healthy condition for £12.50 and was happy with my lot when the owner plonked the two cherry trees down I’d been previously ogling and declared they needed to go in the ground and and was selling them off at £22.50 each, yes you read that right- a 10ft cherry tree for £22.50 I had them both there and then. Whilst I was at it I bagged a few pansies out of the sale pile for 50p each. I once bought a rambling rose for £2.00 years ago and that was the winner until today. Anyway, I’m waiting for my trees to be delivered and I’ll show you as soon as they’re in but for now I thought I’d share with you these pretty pansies. It’s their blousy pastel petals I adore!
I had this little terracotta pot that’s broken on the table, it’s shallow, got a chunk missing but perfect for the job.
They’re a bit floppy so I’ve supported them with some twigs and a few snippings of spirea.
I think they look really pretty don’t you?
Next time you’re wandering around the garden centre, make sure you head straight for the sale bins.
