Hello my flower loving friends, how are you? The weather has been lovely for April hasn’t it. The cherry trees are in blossom right now and I sit in the gravel garden and watch the blue-tits land on them every morning, it always amazes me how tiny and delicate they are, I love them. There’s nothing I like more than throwing open the windows and letting the sound of birdsong drift in, or if it’s warm enough- sit on my bench with a coffee and just enjoy the early morning party going on around me.
This morning I was admiring the trails of a slug, whom appeared to be a fellow artist. Usually I would have Picked him up and tossed him in the garden bin but it seemed a shame as the little fellow was behaving like a spirograph and creating the prettiest patterns on the path, I just hoped he’d escape being trodden on by the husband or daughter.
I spent a lovely day this week doing a photoshoot for Herb Merchants Kitchen. I met Gosia a couple of years ago through our shared love of vintage style and entrepreneurial creative spirit. She’s a wonderful chef and is a pro on gut health and eating for healing. She also has her own substack where she publishes recipes- I’ll pop a link to her at the bottom. For now I thought I’d share a few pics from the shoot- the garden and greenhouse made the perfect backdrop.
I got to enjoy this amazing almond cake with a floral tea that Gosia blends herself. I buy a few of her teas and this one is my favourite- it has rose petals in and tastes beautiful, literally drinking the garden, I love that! It was a relaxing few hours taking photos and eating delicious food!
As many of you know, I absolutely adore my photography, my garden and flowers being my favourite subject so this shoot was a lovely fit for both Gosia and myself. I’ve been honoured to help her with advice on creating a website and substack- do go and have a look at her beautiful recipes.
On other news- Lilly will have flowers available at My Little Vintage in Olney on Friday the 25th of April. We’ll be dropping them off around 10 - it would be lovely if you could pop in and pick-up a bunch.
Right, I have my mother-in-law coming for Easter lunch then we’re off to visit our first open garden of the year with the NGS, it’s in Steppingley where the head of the NGS Bedfordshire lives and has the most fabulous garden, plus she makes incredible cake. If you hadn’t yet noticed I’m all about the baked goods, have cake- will travel. I’ll try and get some pics for you.
Have a lovely Sunday.
