September is like a balm after summer. I adore the subdued colours and textures that Autumn brings. This is a photo heavy post as I start to shift a little further away from instagram into something that feels slower and less messy. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy that little app- mostly for the stories, anyway, moving on.
The pic above felt like the last of this summer, somewhere just outside of Burford in the Cotswolds. Summer felt like it was drifting gently into Autumn until last week when the storms came and the air cooled.
The garden spilled colour into beautiful low light and just relaxed in a tangled mess of gorgeousness. The cosmos and dahlias getting their groove on, it was just stunning. Below are some images of our first flower stall of the year which I enjoyed so much.
My daughter Lilly joined me for the day at this artisan fair in Ampthill.
I’m cutting the last of the helichrysum now for drying so I can use it in my designs over winter and bring some colour and texture into the house. I love drying flowers, there’s something so comforting about preserving something to enjoy later on.
As the storms hit and the garden started to flood I retreated into my favourite coffee shop in Hitchin with my laptop to write up some posts and have a hug from a chai latte, my guilty pleasure.
And lastly- some dahlias that I rescued from the storm this week. They’re not the last, I’ve others coming but they are slowing down now as the weather turns cooler.
Have a beautiful Sunday and I hope the new week treats you well.
